Carnie Wilson’s Weight Loss Struggle
I have been an admirer of Carnie Wilson since I read about her gastric bypass surgery, in 1999. The surgery was actually quite a success. She went from 300 pounds to 150 pounds and felt great about it. But unfortunately, like most of us her struggle was not over.
The surgery was broadcast over the Internet and attracted worldwide media attention. Carnie was so happy with the initial results that she hosted her own infomercial, in regard to gastric bypass.
Two years ago, in 2006, Carnie appeared on the show ‘Celebrity Fit Club’, because she had gained quite a bit of weight, while pregnant with her daughter Lola. She lost a total of 22 pounds when she was on the show.
Today, Carnie weighs 206 pounds and wears a size 16. Like so many of us who sadly experience weight loss ups and downs, she says she has hit rock bottom and is willing to work hard to change that. She would like to lose at least 45 pounds.
Carnie will be the first to admit that her downfall is snacking. Boy, does that sound familiar or what? In a recent interview she admitted that one night’s worth of snacks might be a tortilla with cheese, graham crackers and popcorn. What… no rice cakes?
Carnie is probably the most well-known as a member of the group Wilson Phillips. She is also the daughter of famous Beach Boy, Brian Wilson. She has made television appearances on Entertainment Tonight, Sabrina the Teenage Witch and That 70s Show.
She has written three books, since her initial weight loss. Two memoirs… ‘Gut Feeling’ and ‘I’m Still Hungry’ and a cookbook, ‘To Serve With Love’. She has also made numerous appearances as a motivational speaker, in regard to health and morbid obesity issues… inspiring dieters all over the country.
I really feel for Carnie and wish her much success with their current weight loss goals. Hopefully, she finds comfort in inspiration in the fact that since she was successful dieting, in the past, she will be able to repeat the process and again be an inspiration to us all.
